A leader of the Samajwadi Party was shot dead allegedly by his wife’s lover in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday evening, PTI reported. Police have arrested his wife and are looking for her lover, who fled after the incident.
The incident took place in Chandausi area when 35-year-old Jagdish Mali got into a fight with Dilip, with whom his wife allegedly had an affair, Superintendent of Police Yamuna Prasad said. He said Dilip then opened fire at Mali during the fight. Mali died on the spot.
Police have filed a case against Mali’s wife and Dilip based on a complaint filed by Mali’s brother, Prasad said.
An investigation is under way.
