The Delhi Police on Thursday arrested religious leader Ashu Maharaj for allegedly raping a woman and her minor daughter at his ashram, PTI reported. Additional Commissioner of Police Rajiv Ranjan said the Crime Branch has also detained the accused’s son.
The religious leader was sent to three days in police custody, ANI reported.
The woman had filed a complaint accusing the religious leader, his friends and his son of raping her between 2008 and 2013. She alleged that he raped her minor daughter too.
The police registered the case at the Hauz Khas Police Station last week and transferred the case to the Crime Branch on September 9.
