A man shot dead five people, including his wife, before killing himself in California’s Bakersfield on Thursday, NBC reported. Officials from the Kern County Sheriff’s Department said the assailant arrived at a trucking business site and shot a man there before killing his wife.
Sheriff Donny Youngblood said the suspect then chased a person who witnessed the crime and killed him before confronting two people outside a home and killing them. The gunman then hijacked a car and drove to a highway before an official from the sheriff’s department managed to confront him.
The accused, however, shot himself.
Youngblood said the investigation may take a while as there were multiple crime scenes, including the vicinity of a gun store called Bear Mountain Sports, and at least 30 witnesses.
