Suspected militants shot dead a police constable in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Shah of Zazripora village, Kashmir Dispatch reported.
Trainee constable Shah was killed in Awgam village after he returned from Manigam. He was on leave. “Militants are involved in the killing and a case under relevant sections of law has been initiated with regard to the incident,” an unidentified police officer said.
Shah, who was earlier working as a special police officer, was recently promoted to trainee, Global News Service reported. The agency said that Indian security forces are now conducting a search operation to trace the attackers.
