Two people were killed and five critically injured after they were hit by a train at a railway station in Mathura district on Tuesday, PTI reported. The train hit them when they were allegedly trying to board another train from the wrong side.
The incident took place when the Chhattisgarh Sampark Kranti Express was passing through the Kosi Kalan railway station. The people who were hit were trying to get on the Agra Intercity Express.
One person died on the spot and another succumbed to injuries while on the way to the hospital. Four of those injured were taken to hospitals in Mathura and one to Delhi.
“The Agra Intercity Express was at platform number one of the Kosi Kalan station in the Agra Railway Division,” a railway spokesperson said. “They tried to board it from off-side [non-platform side]. Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh Sampark Kranti was passing through and they were hit by it. One person is suspected dead while four others are injured.”
