The Army on Sunday claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid and killed a suspected militant in Uri sector in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, reported Kashmir Reader.
Army spokesperson Rajesh Kalia said militants had tried to infiltrate through the Line of Control in Uri sector on Sunday morning. Kalia said the infiltrators fired upon Army personnel near the Kasturi Naar forest range.
“In the ensuing gun battle, one unidentified militant has been killed,” Kalia said. A search operation is still in progress, he said.
On August 9, security forces killed five suspected militants during an encounter in Baramulla district. A joint team of the Army’s 32 Rashtriya Rifles and 9 Para Commandos came in contact with the suspected militants after they launched a cordon-and-search operation in Dooniwari forest.
