A government official on Friday said rescue personnel had recovered bodies of six of the nine people who were swept away in the water while they were at the Sultangarh waterfall in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri, PTI reported. On Thursday, personnel rescued 45 people who were stranded at the site.
District Collector Shilpa Gupta said heavy rain showers had triggered a sudden surge in the water levels. Other reports, however, had said the incident took place after dam water was released at the popular tourist site. “Efforts are on to find three more persons who went missing on August 15 evening,” Gupta told PTI.
Gwalior District Superintendent of Police Navneet Bhasin had said nine people were reported missing in a flash flood on August 15.
