Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra on Wednesday said criticising a system was easy but transforming it was not, NDTV reported. He made the remark while speaking about the judiciary during his Independence Day address at the Supreme Court.
“To criticise, attack and destroy a system is quite easy,” Misra said. “What is difficult and challenging is to transform it into a performing one.” The chief justice also said it was necessary to be “productive in a state of counter-productive times”, Bar and Bench reported.
“Positive and concrete reforms must be undertaken with responsibility,” he said, adding that there was a need to “transcend one’s personal ambitions or grievances”.
Attorney General KK Venugopal, who also spoke at the event, brought up acute congestion in the corridors and courtrooms of the top court, Live Law reported. He said women lawyers suffered the most in congested courtrooms.
