The youth president of the Peoples Democratic Party was shot at in Chadoora area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday night, reported Greater Kashmir. Waheed Ur Rehman Para escaped unhurt.
The attack took place around 7.30 pm when Para was returning from a condolence meeting. He said the unidentified assailants arrived on a bike and fired two shots at his vehicle. “I escaped unhurt and the bullets hit the vehicle,” he told Greater Kashmir.
The police have registered a case, said Superintendent of Police Tejinder Singh. “The attack seems to be perpetrated by unidentified gunmen,” he told The Indian Express.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah condemned the attack. “Strongly condemn the attack on PDP leader @parawahid,” he tweeted. “Threats and violence are not to way to address differences or to change opinions.”
