India’s industrial output rose 7% in June compared to the same month last year, data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation showed on Friday.
Output in all three sectors – manufacturing, mining and electricity – improved more than 6% as compared to the year-ago month.
The manufacturing sector grew at 6.9% in June, recovering from the decline in growth in May to 3.9%. Output in the mining sector rose 6.6% and the electricity sector rose 8.5% in June. The manufacturing sector had declined 0.7% in June 2017.
The cumulative growth in industrial output during April-June was 5.2% compared to the same quarter last year. The manufacturing sector output rose 5.2% on year in April-June, mining output grew 5.4%, and the power generation sector showed a rise of 4.9% in the quarter.
