An officer of the Central Reserve Police Force was injured on Tuesday when an improvised explosive device laid by suspected Maoists exploded in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, PTI reported, quoting police.
Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena said the explosion took place when a team of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action was patrolling near Timilguda village. The blast was triggered when Assistant Commandant K Ijung inadvertently stepped on the device, Meena told PTI.
Ijung suffered injuries in his abdomen and is undergoing treatment at a hospital of the paramilitary force in Chintalnar.
On Monday, at least 15 suspected Maoists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Mika Tong forest in Sukma district. Four suspected Maoists were also arrested during the operation.
