The Maharashtra Police arrested two men for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl after convincing her to go out with them under the ruse of “Friendship Day” on Sunday, PTI reported. Dombivali Inspector VM Pawar said the accused are aged between 18 and 22 years, and were known to the victim.
One of the accused has a fish hatchery business while the other is a college student, the police said. The accused took the girl on a two-wheeler to an abandoned room near a fish hatchery in Dombivali, where they allegedly raped her. They reportedly threatened her against complaining about the crime and dropped her near her home.
The girl lodged a complaint with the Dombivali police, following which the police booked the two men for gangrape and under several sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
