A man carrying a knife and wearing the tricolour on his shirt barged into the Kerala House in New Delhi on Saturday, where Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was staying. However, security personnel at the spot quickly apprehended him.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Madhur Verma said Vimal Raj – a 46-year-old resident of Alappuzha city – bypassed security personnel at the main gate and tried to enter the building around 9.45 am, the Hindustan Times reported. Videos on social media showed him telling a security guard that he had been running from pillar to post in connection with a case.
However, some security personnel soon arrived and pinned Raj to the ground, even as he insisted that he had not committed any crime. A kitchen knife was found inside his bag.
Medical records in his possession showed that the man was “80% mentally unstable”, Verma said. The police will now admit him to the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences.
