Two suspected militants were killed in an encounter with Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kupwara district’s Lolab Valley on Thursday, Director General of Police SP Vaid said on Twitter.
The militants opened fire on the security forces who were on patrol duty in Lolab Valley following which an encounter began, police told PTI.
The militants were yet to be identified.
Another militant was killed in a gunfight with security forces in Kupwara on July 26, PTI reported, quoting an unidentified police official. After receiving inputs about the presence of militants, the Army’s 21 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police had launched a cordon and search operation in Sudal village in Handwara.
