A militant was killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday, PTI reported, quoting an unidentified police official. A gunfight ensued after militants fired upon the security forces. The operation is ongoing.
In a separate incident, four personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force were injured in a grenade attack by suspected militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday, said a police official. The militants hurled a grenade at a CRPF bunker in Bijbehara’s Zerpora, reported ANI.
The injured personnel were taken to a hospital and the area cordoned off. Search operations were under way to nab the militants, according to PTI.
The attack comes a day after the security forces killed two suspected militants during a gunfight in Anantnag. The Kashmir Zone Police said the militants were part of the Lashkar-e-Taiba and their identities are being verified.
