A 10-year-old boy, who went missing in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday, was found dead on Thursday evening, the police said. A police constable was allegedly thrashed as protests broke out after the boy’s body was found, Greater Kashmir reported.
The police have set up a special investigation team to investigate the death, PTI reported. The team will be headed by Kupwara’s additional superintendent of police.
Locals found his burnt body in a drain in Gushi village on Thursday, according to GNS news agency. The police have sought cooperation of the residents to complete the investigation.
The boy, a resident of Gulgam area, had gone missing when he left home on Monday evening. The next day, residents blocked the Kupwara-Tangdhar road and held protests.
