The Kerala Police on Wednesday arrested the prime suspect in the murder of an undergraduate student of Ernakulam’s Maharaja’s College. Abhimanyu, a member of the Students’ Federation of India, was stabbed to death on July 2, allegedly by members of the Popular Front of India’s student wing Campus Front.

The Special Investigation Team arrested Mohammed, who is the president of Campus Front of India’s unit in the college, from the Kerala-Karnataka border, reported Manorama Online. He is being questioned in Ernakulam. The police had traced his phone calls when he was in Bengaluru following the murder.

According to police, another accused, Adhil, had reached the college on Muhammad’s instructions, IANS reported. Police on Sunday arrested arrested Adhil, a district committee member of Campus Front of India, in connection with the case. According to the Special Investigation Team probing the case, Adhil was directly involved in executing the crime.

The police had earlier said that 15 people were directly involved in the murder and had arrested four people. Another six who were arrested had helped the main culprits.

Members of the Students’ Federation of India and Campus Front of India clashed over campus graffiti early on July 2, leading to at least two students getting injured.
