Five boys allegedly raped an eight-year-old girl when her parents were not at home in Sahaspur, 25 km from Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun, the police said on Tuesday.
The boys, aged between nine years and 14 years, told the police they had watched pornographic clips on a mobile phone two days before committing the crime, said an unidentified police official. The alleged incident took place on July 12 and came to light when the girl’s parents filed a complaint with the police on Sunday, PTI reported. The accused were then detained and remanded to a juvenile home.
Sahaspur station house officer Narendra Rathore told Hindustan Times that the accused belong to families of labourers and study in Classes 6 and 9. “The girl studies in Class 5 and lives with her family of parents and four siblings,” Rathore added.
The police officer claimed that the boys had lured the girl to one of their homes by promising her a chocolate. One of them guarded the door while the others raped her. “While they were committing the crime, one of them saw the elder brother of a 10-year-old accused coming towards the house,” said Rathore.
The girl’s parents became suspicious after remained silent and did not eat dinner. Then, she broke down and told her mother about the alleged incident.
Earlier this month, a similar case was reported from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh where four boys, aged between six years and 10, years allegedly raped a four-year-old girl after watching pornography on a mobile phone.
