The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday named Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in a chargesheet for allegedly filing a false case against a man whose daughter has accused him of rape, PTI reported. The chargesheet was filed in a special CBI court in Lucknow.
Sengar, an MLA from Bangermau in Uttar Pradesh, is already in jail for allegedly raping the teenager in Unnao in June 2017. The investigating agency named him in a chargesheet filed on July 11.
The police arrested the girl’s father on April 4, accusing him of violating the Arms Act. They, however, did not take any action against Sengar’s brother, who allegedly beat him up when his daughter filed the rape complaint. The man died five days later in judicial custody. The CBI has already filed a chargesheet against Sengar’s brother Atul Singh Sengar and four others in connection with the death.
In the chargesheet filed on Friday, the CBI has named 10 people, including some police officers and the two of the legislator’s brothers.
