A suspected militant was killed in an ongoing encounter with security forces in the Kandi forests in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday, reported GNS. An Army commando was killed and another injured in the operation on Wednesday.
“The body of the militant was recovered today [Thursday] morning along with an AK- 47 rifle and other ammunitions during the search operation in dense woods of Sadu Ganga in Kandi,” an unidentified Army officer said. He said that the identity of the militant and the group he is affiliated to is being ascertained.
An operation was launched in the Kandi forest area on Tuesday afternoon following a stand-off with a group of militants, the Army officer said. Sepoy Mukul Meena of the 3 Para Regiment sustained bullet injuries in the gunfight and later died on Wednesday.
