An Army commando was killed and another injured after an encounter broke out between militants and security forces in forested areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday, IANS reported.
Sepoy Mukul Meena of the 3 Para Regiment sustained bullet injuries in the gunfight at Sadu Ganga forest. “The injured soldier was evacuated to a military hospital in Drugmulla, where doctors declared him brought dead,” an official Army spokesperson told The Hindu. The condition of another personnel was said to be stable.
On Tuesday, an operation was launched in the forest area following information about a group of militants hiding there, officials said.
