The mutilated body of a Rashtriya Janata Dal leader was found in Bihar’s Nalanda district on Monday evening, the police told PTI on Tuesday. Kailash Paswan was reportedly abducted on July 6.
The police found Paswan’s decapitated body from under the bridge, said Nawada town police station head Anjani Kumar. The police said no arrest has been made so far, and an investigation was under way.
Paswan, who was the general secretary of the party’s Nawada district unit, was allegedly kidnapped after he left his house from Budhaul village. His son, Sanjay Paswan, lodged a first information report alleging that his father has been kidnapped. A local RJD leader, Chhotu Gupta, has been named in the case, reported The Indian Express. Paswan’s family also suspected the involvement of two women, but have not named them in the complaint.
This is the third murder of an RJD leader in the last six months, RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tewary told The Indian Express. “The police need to conduct a detailed investigation beyond the enmity theory,” he said. “Political leaders working in the field are being increasingly targeted of late.”
