A doctor was found dead inside the Civil Hospital Karachi under mysterious circumstances on Friday. Eidgah Station House Officer Naeemuddin said Dr Anil Kumar, 32, was found lying dead on his chair inside the Intensive Care Unit II of the surgical department, where he was on duty around 8.15 am.
The officer said the door of the ICU was locked from inside. A syringe was found at the spot and sent to the forensic laboratory for tests, reported Dawn. Additional Police Surgeon of the hospital Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi told Dawn that there were multiple marks of injections on both his arms. The body has been shifted to the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.
SHO Naeemuddin said an investigation is on. "It appears he had administered an injection on his hand as it was bandaged."
Corrections and clarifications: This article has been edited to remove extraneous details about the victim's religious affiliation since there is no evidence yet that this was a factor in his death.
