A major traffic jam on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway left commuters stranded for more than six hours on Thursday evening, and prompted the police to warn people against coming to the area on Friday. Many commuters complained about waterlogging at the Hero Honda Chowk, which they said was a regular feature during the monsoon every year.
Some parts of the expressway had more than four feet of water, NDTV reported. The flooding was traced back to the Badshapur drain, which had overflowed owing to the heavy rain that started at 4:30 pm on Thursday. Several people were rescued after falling into ditches obscured by the water, and the police said it had sent out its personnel in droves to manage the situation. However, commuters said there was chaos on the streets and the authorities were doing little to ease the situation.
