At least, 14 districts are under water, while the situation in eight of them is very serious. Of them, Pyuthan is worst affected, where at least 36 people have died, reported PTI. Floods swept away a suspension bridge over Tinau River in Butwal, endangering the lives of 6,000 people who live near the river. Butwal District Police Office said the bridge collapsed when a police team was heading toward the settlement to rescue people on the river bank. Meanwhile people in Shikharpur, Baitadi district, have been living in without electricity ever since a landslide buried a canal of the Kathmadi Micro Hydropower Project, reported the Himalayan Times.
The Saptokoshi, Khado, Narayani, Mahuli, Chapin, Sundari, Khadak, Bhaluwahi and Amaha rivers are all flowing above the danger mark, while Mechi river has swept away an embankment.
