Indian wrestler Narsingh Yadav, who was supposed to represent the country at the Olympics, has reportedly failed a second dope test, Times Now reported. The test of his B-sample was conducted on July 5. On Monday, it came to light that his A-sample also gave positive results in a drug test conducted by the National Anti-Doping Agency in June. The final report of a NADA panel that is investigating the case will be submitted in the next two days, Sports Minister Vijay Goel informed the Lok Sabha. Till then, Yadav will remain under provisional suspension, reported PTI.
After the first result, Yadav had filed a police complaint in Sonepat alleging that his food had been spiked. The Wrestling Federation had also backed Yadav's claims of a conspiracy, after his sparring partner and roommate Sandeep Tulsi also tested positive for drugs. According to Yadav's complaint, a teenage wrestler who had represented India in junior international tournaments spiked the food.
Yadav was the Indian representative in the Olympics' 74 kg freestyle wrestling category. The Indian Olympic Association has now sought to replace him with Parveen Rana.
