With this, Nita Ambani and her husband Mukesh Ambani – who was given ‘Z’ category security cover three years ago – are the first two business tycoons in India to get VVIP security of this level, reported the Times of India.
Central security agencies had prepared a threat assessment report after which the protection was sanctioned. A government officer told PTI, “The security cover will be fully paid for, like in the case of her husband.” Mukesh Ambani has had 28 commandos, a pilot and an escort vehicle with him round-the-clock since April 2013, when he received threats from the Indian Mujahideen. He pays Rs 15 lakh a month to the CRPF for their services.
The 'Y' category is a scale lower than 'Z', which is the second highest VVIP security cover. The CRPF, at present, provides VIP cover to 58 protectees, including many politicians.
