Wrestler Narsingh Yadav has been provisionally suspended after failing a doping test, but he will be allowed to participate in the Rio Olympics if the National Anti-Doping Agency exonerates him, Sports Minister Vijay Goel said on Monday. Goel added that a decision on Yadav's participation, who is competing in the 74-kg freestyle category, will be made only after NADA submits its report on the matter.
Earlier in the day, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the president of the Wrestling Federation of India, came out strongly in support of Yadav, after the 26-year-old was found guilty of a doping violation on Saturday.
