At least 20 people, including four policemen, were killed on Sunday when suicide bomber attacked a security checkpoint in northern Baghdad, reported BBC. The attacker set off the bomb at one of the populated entrances of the Shia district of Kadhimiya. More than 35 people were injured in the attack, which has been claimed by Islamic State terror group.

In another terror attack, three people were killed and at least 11 people were injured in an explosion in an open market in Abu Ghraib. Two medical officers have confirmed the casualties, according to The Guardian.

Earlier this month, at least 200 people were killed in an explosion in the busy central locality of Karrada. The terror group had claimed responsibility for the attack. The outfit orchestrated a number of car bombs attacks in Baghdad in May. On May 11, three suicide bombings in the city killed 94 people. Around 150 people were injured in the attacks, and several members of security forces were also among those killed and injured.
