India emerged in a dominant position at the end of Day 3 in the first Test against West Indies at Antigua on Saturday. After declaring at 566/8 in the first innings, they bowled West Indies out for 243 and then enforced a follow-on. At the close of play on the day, West Indies were 21/1 in the second innings, still trailing by 302 runs.
West Indies lost a cluster of middle-order wickets around lunch on the day, falling from 90/2 to 92/5. At one point, 200 seemed distant, but the lower-order showed some defiance to take the total past the 200 mark. Opener Kraigg Brathwaite and Shane Dowrich were the only two to cross 50 runs, scoring 74 and 57 respectively. For India, pacers Umesh Yadav (4/41) and Mohammad Shami (4/66) were the standouts.
India managed another breakthrough in the 13 overs of the second innings after Ishant Sharma dismissed Brathwaite for just 2 in the second innings.
