External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj came down heavily on Pakistan on Saturday and said that the whole of Jammu and Kashmir belonged to India, and that the neighbouring country can never “make this heaven on earth a haven for terrorists”. Her statement came after Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Kashmir will one day be a part of his country. Sharif’s statement came after his party won elections in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.
Swaraj said, “A country which used fighter planes and artillery against its own people has no right whatsoever to point a finger against our security forces,” adding that Sharif’s “dangerous, though delusional” will never be fulfilled. “The whole of India would like to tell Prime Minister of Pakistan that this dream will not be realised even at the end of eternity. The whole of Jammu and Kashmir belongs to India,” she said at a media briefing. "Pakistan is perpetrating terror activities through Hafiz Saeed and other terrorists in an area which is integral part of India,” added Swaraj.
Pakistan has criticised India several times in recent weeks, after clashes broke out in Kashmir following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani. Sharif has also repeatedly asked for a plebiscite in the conflict-ridden region, for people to vote which of the two countries they want to be part of.
