Not even losing 1-4 may mean much for Manchester United, who went down by that margin to Borussia Dortmund at a pre-season friendly in Shanghai on Friday as part of the ICC Cup. As competitive football goes, it may be nothing to fret over for United, but manager Jose Mourinho can't have been particularly happy to have to face the press after a big defeat – practice match or not.
After all, their 2-0 win over Wigan in the first pre-season warm-up did fetch a lot of smiles.
For the record, Dortmund, which began its warm-up matches earlier and has probably hit the groove quicker than its rivals, won with goals from Gonzalo Castro (19th and 86th minutes), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (36th minute) and Ousmane Dembele (57th minute). United got its goal from Henrich Mkhitaryan, off a Juan Mata pass.
