Victories by Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myeni gave India a 2-0 lead on the first day of their Asia/Oceania Group I second round tie against the Republic of Korea in Chandigarh.
Twenty-one-year old Ramanathan won the first match of the contest 6-3 2-6 6-3 6-5 (15-15) after his Korean opponent Seong Chang Hong withdrew in the fifth set due to cramps in his right thigh.
The second game saw a similar result as Myeni defeated Yong-Kyu Lim 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 5–2. Lim withdrew from the match in the fifth set.
On Saturday, Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna take on Hong Chung and Yunseong Chung at the Indian men's doubles. The reverse singles will take place on Sunday.
