An explosives-laden car was detonated in Rashidiya district of Iraq on Tuesday, killing at least nine people and injuring 32 others. Security and medical officers told Reuters that the blast took place at an outdoor market in the Shiite-dominated district north of Baghdad. However, Associated Press reported that 11 people have been killed.
While no group or person has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, the Islamic State group has carried out a series of similar attacks in the country in the past. According to Reuters, Baghdad is on high alert after the July 3 blast in the central Karrada district that killed at least 292 people.
