Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday inducted 11 ministers to his Cabinet, including 10 new faces. Six of the 10 new ministers are from the Bharatiya Janata Party, including former state BJP chief Pandurang Phundkar.
While the Shiv Sena missed out on getting a berth in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet after it was reshuffled, two party legislators Arjun Khotkar and Gulabrao Patil were sworn in to the state Cabinet. However, party president Uddhav Thackeray did not attend the ceremony.
With this Cabinet expansion, the council of minister now has 39 members, with 42 being the maximum allowed. One junior minister was elevated to the Cabinet rank, while one MLA each was inducted from the Swabhiman Shetkari Sanghatana and Rashtriya Samaj Party.
