Hosts France saw off world champions Germany to book a place in the final of Euro 2016, winning 2-0 at Marseille on Thursday. This is only the third time in their history that they have reached the finals of the European Championships, having won in 1984 and 2000.
Germany were easily the more dominant team in the first half, enjoying plenty of possession and mounting several attacks. But their lack of attacking fluency came back to bite them right at the end of the half when the referee awarded a penalty to France after adjudging Bastian Schweinsteiger guilty of handling the ball in the box. France's Antoine Griezmann, their top goal-scorer in the tournament, made no mistake slotting the penalty kick in to give France the lead.
In a far more open second half, it was Griezmann again who doubled France's lead in the 72nd minute. A mistake from Germany's Joshua Kimmich gave France's Paul Pogba the chance to neatly set up a cross for the Atletico Madrid forward to get his second goal of the match and become the highest goal-scorer of the tourgrienament.
France will meet Portugal in the finals on Sunday in Paris.
