Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey on Tuesday said the agency was completing its inquiry into charges against Democratic leader Hillary Clinton, and it will not recommend any action against her. The FBI was investigating charges that Clinton’s private email server was used to send emails when she was secretary of state. Comey added that Clinton and her aides were “extremely careless” while handling classified and sensitive information.
The Democratic presidential hopeful had a “voluntary” meeting with investigators three days ago, according to reports. The FBI’s recommendation is likely to affect Clinton’s campaign for president.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch had said that she would accept whatever recommendation she received from the FBI.
