The top-ranked Indo-Swiss pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis cruised into the quarter-finals of Wimbledon 2016 with a 6-1 6-0 dismantling of the American-Latvian pair of Christina McHale and Jelena Ostapenko on Monday.
However, Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea, seeded sixth, were knocked out of the men's doubles event in the third round after losing a closely fought game to the pair of Henri Kontinen and John Peers. Bopanna and Mergea lost 6-2 3-6 4-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-8 to the 10th-seeded Finnish-Australian pair in a match that spanned two hours and 55 minutes.
Defending champions Mirza and Hingis are looking to win their second Wimbledon title.
