A Mumbai court on Monday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to submit a reply to a plea filed by co-accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, Peter Mukerjea, seeking information on a secret witness in the investigation. In February, the agency submitted a statement from an unnamed witness in its supplementary chargesheet. The CBI had then said it could not reveal the witness’ identity because the investigation was ongoing, PTI reported. The agency was directed to submit its reply by July 7.

Last week, the court gave copies of the confession from accused-turned-approver in the case, Shyamvar Rai, to co-accused Sanjeev Khanna. Rai, Khanna, Indrani and Peter Mukerjea are the accused of being involved in the murder of Sheena Bora. Bora was Indrani Mukerjea’s daughter, who was allegedly strangled in a car on April 24, 2012, before her body was burnt and dumped in a forest in Maharashtra’s Raigad district.

The case came to light late last year when her body was found. Rai was arrested in August 2015 in connection with the arms case. He later revealed the murder of Bora, leading to the arrest of the Mukerjeas and Sanjeev Khanna.
