A man accused of eight murders, who was released from jail a few days ago, allegedly raped and killed a 10-year-old girl in Secunderabad, Telangana. Police have launched a manhunt for 30-year-old Anil Kumar, who was identified from CCTV footage from a local store, Hindustan Times reported.
The girl went missing from outside her house, where she had been playing on Saturday evening. She was taken to an isolated location where she was raped and then strangled to death. Police found her body near the railway tracks in Secunderabad’s Bolarum cantonment area on Sunday morning. The child’s head was found mutilated with a boulder, allegedly to prevent her from being identified. Her body has been sent for an autopsy.
According to eyewitnesses, Kumar lured her away by claiming that her father had called her, police said, adding that he was released from Sangareddy jail only a few days ago after serving a one-year term. A case has been registered against him for rape and murder under sections of both the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
