World No 1 Novak Djokovic crashed out of Wimbledon 2016, losing to United States of America's Sam Querrey 6-7 1-6 6-3 7-6 in Friday's rain-interrupted that was resumed on Saturday.

Ranked 41 in the world, Sam Querrey surprised many by taking the first set to the tie-breaker and then winning it 8-6 on Friday. But he showed it wasn't a fluke, defeating a completely below-par Djokovic 6-1 in the second set and on the verge of crashing out.

It was at that point that rain affected the game and was called off. When it resumed again on Saturday, Djokovic looked like he had got some of his rhythm back, speeding to a 5-0 lead and eventually winning the third set 6-3.

But in a see-sawing fourth set which involved more rain delays and frenzied rallies, Querrey just managed to slip ahead to 6-5, giving himself one game away from a win when the covers came on again. Djokovic made it 6-6 but Querrey held on to win the tie-breaker 7-5.
