At least five people have been killed and nearly 20 injured after a man opened fire with an automatic gun at a café in a village about 50 km from Belgrade in northern Serbia on Saturday, reported AFP. The suspect, identified only as ZS, was arrested soon.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals. Doctors said seven people were in serious condition, reported Bloomberg. The attack took place around 1.40 am (local time) when ZS first killed his wife and another woman before he opened fire at the other customers in the cafe.
Serbian state TV reported that the gunman first came to the cafe, saw his wife there with a group of friends, went home and returned with a gun. Serbia's Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said the automatic weapon was illegal.
