Argentina's quest for a major global title since 1993 continues. Defending champions Chile defeated the team 4-2 on penalties, in the final of the Copa America Centenario on Sunday at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey.
It was a goalless 120 minutes as both Argentina and Chile were a man down in the first half, with the referee flashing red twice. Despite a number of opportunities, neither team manged to score the necessary goal as the game went into the penalty shootout.
Arturo Vidal of Chile and Lionel Messi of Argentina missed their first penalties. But when it came to Argentina's third penalty, Chile's goalkeeper Claudio Bravo kept the shot out from Lucas Biglia. Francisco Silva scored, and Chile successfully defended the title they won last year, extending Argentina's jinx.
