Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand qualified for the upcoming Rio Olympics in the women’s 100m event on Saturday. Chand clocked 11.30 seconds in the 100 m heats at Kazakhstan to seal her berth. The Rio Olympics qualification mark is 11.32 seconds.
Chand had missed the qualifying score by 0.01 seconds at the 100 m event of Federation Cup National Senior Athletics Championship 2016 in New Delhi in April this year. But with the new score in the event at Almaty, the 20-year-old sprinter became the 99th Indian to head for Rio Olympics 2016. Before her, PT Usha had qualified for the event in 1980 Olympics, The Indian Express said.
