The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday registered a case against nine top income tax officials for corruption after conducting raids all over the country. The officials had allegedly been taking personal favours such as paid luxury vacations from various individuals. The corrupt officials include principal I-T commissioner of New Delhi, SK Mittal.

According to the Times of India, the “key link” in the case is a chartered accountant named Sanjay Bhandari, who allegedly arranged these favours in exchange for orders that benefitted the bribing party.

Bhandari and his sons, Shreyans and Divyang, have also been named in the case. CBI officials said the homes and offices of Bhandari and all the I-T officials were raided. Documents related to various property transactions were recovered. The police also found a total of Rs 16 lakh in cash, 4.25 kgs of gold jewellery and 13 kgs of silver articles.
