Tension prevailed in Punjab's Kotkapura on Sunday as Dera Sacha Sauda followers refused to cremate the body of a follower named Gurudev, till the person who shot him at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village last week were arrested. The 35-year-old died of injuries on Friday, reported the Hindustan Times.
Mahenderpal, a member of the sect, said though they have not blocked roads given the inconvenience that might cause the general public, "if the accused is not arrested, we will be forced to launch an agitation".
Senior superintendent of police SS Maan met Dera members to try and convince them to cremate the body. However, the sect followers held their ground. The administration has deployed many police personnel in the area to avoid any untoward incidents.
