Meat Loaf's agent and music manager has not commented on the incident. However, a spokesperson from Alberta Health Services confirmed that a patient from the auditorium was admitted to the hospital. Edmonton Police also said that its officers were called to respond to a medical emergency at the venue.
The singer – who claims to suffer from asthma and irregular heartbeat – had cancelled two other concerts in the past week, in Moose Jaw on Saturday and in Calgary on Tuesday, because of ill health.
However, this is not the first time that Meat Loaf has been taken ill while on stage. In 2003, he collapsed at Wembley Arena in London and the same happened during a concert in Pittsburgh in 2011.
Meat Loaf, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday, is one of the best-selling artists of all time, largely thanks to his wildly popular album Bat Out of Hell. He has also acted in a number of films, including The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Fight Club.
