The price of petrol has been increased by 5 paise per litre, and the new rates have been in effect from 12 am on Wednesday, reported The Indian Express. Diesel will now cost Rs 1.26 more for every litre. This is the fourth hike in fuel rates since May 1. In the past 46 days, petrol have got dearer by Rs 4.52 a litre, while diesel price has gone up by Rs 7.72 per litre.
In Delhi, petrol will now cost Rs 65.65 per litre, and diesel Rs 55.19 per litre, according to The Times of India. “The current level of international product prices of petrol and diesel and Rupee-US Dollar exchange rate warrant increase in selling price of petrol and diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision,” read a statement released by the Indian Oil Corporation. Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and IOC review fuel prices in the country on the 1st and 16th of every month.
