Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was allegedly killed in an air strike in Raqqa, Syria, on Sunday, reported IANS. The news agency affiliated with IS, Arabic news agency al-Amaq reported that the raid was conducted by an US-led coalition in the militant group's stronghold in northen Syria.
"Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed by coalition airstrikes on Raqqa on the fifth day of Ramadan," said a statement issued by al-Amaq. However, the US-led coalition has not commented on his death yet.
On June 9, PTI had reported that Baghdadi was injured in an air strike by coalition forces on one of the outfit's command headquarters close to the Syrian border in Iraq.
