The Central Board of Film Certification has cleared Bollywood film Udta Punjab with 13 cuts under the 'A' category, which is restricted for an adult audience, reported PTI. “The CBFC's job is now over. It is now up to the producer to go to the court or tribunal. We will implement the order,” censor board chairman Pahlaj Nihalani said on Sunday.
He said that nine board members watched the Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor starrer and unanimously cleared the film, which is expected to release across the country on June 17. The film deals with the subject of substance abuse and sparked a controversy when the film certification board refused to clear it and suggested as many as 89 cuts.
The producers of the film had approached the Bombay High Court against the order of the revising committee of the censor board. The film is jointly produced by Balaji Telefilms and Anurag Kashyap's Phantom Films, and it is directed by Abhishek Chaubey.
